Seems like a retail flash to me... Might have to play through the game to really tell though..

I am loving this thread. As said, Try pressing different combinations of buttons to see if there is a debug menu, and compare to a retail rom. Good luck mate Image

Just once I would like to find a dev item at carpark markets or something XD

Try by pressing ab and start, or other combos.

thetasigma dont give up i found this cart in a pawn shop =D

i am unsure if it has a debug menu or not i tried a few variations of A,B start, select but its always possible i hit the wrong combinations so this is one of 3 things as far as i am concerned its either a Retail flash , a Pre release copy of the game due to the year on the cart the Aus and USA retail versions came late 2000 or a Proto im going to compare it to the retail rom later and any early differences will be mentioned perhaps pictures will be taken if i find a major bug

ok i am down to pre release and Retail flash on dev card but how on earth did the game get on the cart ? and why did the cart come out the exact same year as pokemon gold ? D: this thing confuses me a bit with that

Just looked at the opening and stuff is it normal for ROMs to be slower then Actual hardware ?? i notice the opening is slower on the ROM

Chances are it was just a review copy for a magazine before the game was produced on retail carts.
You should probably still check if it has the same checksum as the retail binary image, though. There may still be hidden but disabled debug functions.

Only way to know for sure is to dump it and compare romsize.

But rom size can match between versions. It's best to compare checksums.

You need additional tools to dump the data from the cart. Then you get the checksum of that and compare it to a retail rom of the same game to see if it is the same or not.
