I've never seen a non-holographic/gold Majora's mask in the US.

But I doubt there's anyway to play the game without an expansion pak in any region. The game needs 8 MB ram minimum to run.

For your original question:
One of your three is at the bottom of this nasty link so I know we're on the same page http://www.gamespot.com/n64/adventure/legendofzeldamajorasmask/similar.html?mode=versions

Though I think this is relevant to your interests as well
http://assemblergames.com/forums/showthread.php?t=15004

The assembler page according to anth0ny:
"Yes, MM was released with both the holographic cover and non-holographic. However, a grey cartrige wasn't released in North America as far as I know."

Is the australian release rare?
If it included all this Yes! If not keep searching.
liquitt:
"it's a european only release, limited to 1000 pcs
contents:
1 poster
1 MM wristwatch
2 pins
1 MM T-Shirt
1 OST MM
1 Pal Version Majora's Mask
1 certificate of authencity (?) with number
often reaches 300$+
a sealed version left ebay 2 years ago for 580$ iirc"

Well I think the question is this:

Zeldafreak said:

On the box, it says "Limited Edition Gold Game Pak".. Yes, all the carts of Majora's Mask are gold-coloured, but then my question is; why did they call it Limited Edition?

So, they call it limited because they wanted to release almost every copy as limited. Simple as that. Why bother with such a thing.

The only non-limited that I know is an US version without the text "Collectors Edition" on the box.

The game paks are all golden. In the world.
And the Collector's Edition comes with the 3D logo in the US only, afaik.

In Brazil, for example, there's only Collector's Edition, with and without expansion paks. Both golden but none with 3D logo. So there's only collector's edition just because there's not non-collector's edition lol

I really don't see a problem there.

If this is important in you decision of buying because "everyone-has-a-colletorz-edition" just don't buy it...

The game is worth it, imo.

I actually have this game, CIB

That's not why.. 'm trying to get like every Zelda-game, and as this one is PAL, and I'm near a complete PAL collection, I just asked to get an idea of how rare it is, as it's called what it is.

I didin't think of others collections when I asked, I was just courious, mostly because it's not packed with an Expansion Pak, but also since it's from Australia..

So the main answer I was looking for, was if it is rare at all.. Bacause I was darn courious..

Though in any way rare in any specific country, one must realize the lack of ability (if so) of separating it from any other copy in the world. If it looks the same, most people won't give a crap.

Well, if you don't know how many types exist in your country, try looking some magazines of the time (Nintendo magazines preferably).
You'll find your answer I think. =P

Ditto that. When they go exclusive down under they go all out.
