I dunno there is something holding me back from getting excited about this.
I think the visuals do a good job of converting the gundam universe to a more "realistic" style. Everything looks gritty and dirty in either grey or brown. I would like to see the mechs shining and their colours picked out vibrantly against blue skies. It just looks a bit serious and drab to me at the moment. But this could just be the location they have chosen for the trailer.
I know this is arguably more accurate to the original feel of the gundam saga, but the gundam always used to stand out against the drab surroundings.
Basically I just fear that this will be another tenki. Too serious for its own good, I prefer the gundam arcade games - easy to control, simple objectives and vibrant dancing colours. When looking at those screens, I just don't think it looks "fun".
I would also say that this looks firmly aimed at an Western demographic, despite the origin. Who knows, it might bring something new to the genre.
I'll hold out till I see it in action, also I want to see what they do with the character design and story segments.

At first I thought this was going to be a conversion of that new Chihiro-based Z Gundam strategy/arcade game. Needless to say, it sounds interesting but I guess it's too early to tell how well it will turn out. There's always Chromehounds I suppose.

reminds me of the Mech Warrior series somehow. I wonder when the next Virtua-on is comming round in related robot-fithing games. Funny we didn't get a serving last generation, given that all pads had dual sticks to them. (DC did, but ironically the controller had a single stick)

Very few Gundam games are every good. The current Naomi arcade games are really fun, but beyond those, I can't remember the last one that has wowed me.

There are a few good Gundam games being Gundam Wing on the Super Famicom (1 on 1 fighter), Gundam Side Story 3 on the Saturn (3D shooter from the Gundam cockpit), Gundame Side Story 0079 on the Dreamcast (like side story 3) and the best of all Gundam E.F.F Vs Zeon & DX on the Dreamcast which was actually programmed by Capcom.

Hmm, looks quite nice, tho the screen with the mech and the soldier looks rather plain, not enough detail in the environment.

Back on topic, I'm not sure how I feel about this Gundam game. I like the realistic look but am worried how the gameplay will turn out. As others have said, I'll wait to see it in action.
Not to throw this off-topic, but there Sega did release Virtua-On Marz for the PS2:

I like Mechs, but not so much when its only mechs. I like the over the shoulder shooter look, but with drivable mechs as vehicles.
Im gonna step on people! :icon_bigg
