Does your psident tool read the md version?

If so, may be worth using that to confirm its 1.35?

Unfortunately, no. This is information that is only available to the service tool.

But uhm, I'll PM you sometime later. I might have something else that you can try.

Is PMAP is based on Sony Serial Mecha tool ?

Can you provide a photo of tests points on your board ?

Yes, it was based on the EEPROM, ELECT and MECHA adjustment tools.

I don't really have diagrams because I only have a GH-001 for tests. You can get the location of the pins from the service manuals.
The earlier consoles have MECHACON devices that look similar to the CXP102064, so early service manuals (i.e. for GH-010) can help you with tracing the pins to their respective points.

I've tried using the tool with my GH-022 PS2, but unfortunately I can't even manage to start:
01. 0cfd READ MECHACON MD: 101 - rx-Command timed out
There was a problem communicating with the PlayStation 2 console.
Check the connections, press the RESET button and try again.

I'm using this RS232 to USB device: https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1pc...ter-STC-Replace-FT232-Module/32643852922.html
Since I couldn't find a service manual for GH-022, I've used the the one for GH-017 as reference, the test points seem to be at the same place.

There are LEDs for TXD and RXD on the adapter. TXD flashes once when I select an option in PMAP, so it shouldn't be a driver problem.
What am I doing wrong?

/EDIT
Nevermind, I didn't realize that you have to connect RXD (PS2) to TXD (USB adapter) and vice versa. It's working now Image

I've tried the Automatic ELECT adjustment now, but I only get to the DVD-SL stage. I insert the DVD, the laser clicks once or twice and I'm back at the menu with the following message:
Electric Circuit Adjustment
This tool allows you to re-calibrate the electric circuit of the CD/DVD drive.
You need to do this if you:
1. Change/remove the OPtical (OP) block
2. Change/remove the spindle motor
3. Change the MECHACON
Warning! This process MAY damage the laser if the wrong type of disc is used!

Continue with automatic ELECT adjustment? [y/n]y
Insert test CD and press ENTER
Insert test DVD-SL and press ENTER

Thanks. There was a problem with the CD/DVD detect ratio calculation code.

Changelog for v1.1.1:

Corrected formula for calculating the CD/DVD disc detection ratio.

No. There is only me working on this and the SONY tools are already very massive.
I'm pretty sure that there is no universal tool for adjusting all consoles, so the Saturn consoles are better off with having a specific tool written for them.

PlayStation 2 MECHACON Adjustment Program (PMAP)

Hello to everyone,

I´ve been collecting some PS2 models SCPH-30004R, all with the 400C lens burnt.
I have 3 mod chiped motherboads for these consoles: 1 is GH015 (V5 with DMS4 Pro) and the other 2 are GH015 (V6 with Duo2 SE)
After replacement of the lasers, two of the GH 015 (1 V5 and 1 V6) motherboards are having weird different behaviours from the third one:

When powering on the console, the disc makes 5 clicks and keeps showing "reading disc..." on the screen for exactly 1 minute. After that the disc starts to spin and reads just fine every format. even Dual layer DVD´s. So I assume is not a laser problem anymore.
When reading CD´s (psone/audio) it takes about 3 minutes to load. This hapens on 2 of the boards.
The third board is fine reading and detecting CDs/DVDs right after pressing the power button, but it has the bad GPU or something else because the graphics are all messed up.

But regarding the other two motherboards, especially the one with DMS4, I would love to make it work again as it was new, because it has sentimental value: it was a gift and it was my first PS2. I would really love to solve this problem, and ive lost years of my life searching and investigating and spent a lot of money sending it to shops for repair without anyone knowing how to solve its problem.
I only found one video on youtube with the same situation as me:

Is this PMAP adjustment program the solution to my problem? Does anyone know what might be wrong with my PS2?
If needed I can make a video with sound and a better explanation.

Sorry for the long post but i´ve searched and tryed everything I know, and I´m sad because I didn´t found a solution.
Thanks everyone.

These tools can help but probably not at the stage this problem is at.
It seems the laser doesn't detect the reflection of the disc until the software tries a different strategy.
The wait time with "Reading disc.." is very unusual. It could be related to the modchip in that case.

Normally, the console starts looking for a DVD first, then for a CD, then DVD again.
Can you see what the laser is doing right after inserting the disc? (Never look into the laser directly!)
