15-pin connector in a DTL-H1001?

[My first post, my apologies if I broke some rules when making this!]

So I was watching an auction and the auction in question was a DTL-H1001. It was strange as it had a 15-pin connector and ribbon leading into the back and into the console under the AV-OUT port.

So to satisfy my curiosity (and to congratulate the person that got it), what possible reason would that 15-pin be there, and what is the likelihood this was modified in some way? What possible uses other than various controllers could this have been used for?

Again, first post, and if it helps, I'm the proud owner of a DTL-H1200 (signed by Keiji Inafune) and DTL-H3000 (though very incomplete).

Welcome to the forums! I wonder if it goes to some sort of custom RGB connector? Can't think of what else it might be. Hopefully someone else knows more.

Interesting... I hadn't thought about this. I wasn't actually aware a pin variant of AV-Out would exist except maybe VGA (which isn't AV but close)

Then again, I'm not the most familiar with a lot of electronic/circuitry stuff like that. Any more ideas?

Probably wired for an old Apple monitor - the old Mac Quadra machines and some of the early Power Macs used a DA-15 monitor connector like that, and they were still current in the mid '90s when the PSX came out.
