Yeah I read an article about the money side of that: apparently server costs for youtube are too damn high so google gives even a smaller cut of your videos than what it does of adsense.
And even then their profits are pretty small, so much that some analists believe it will take 50 years for google to get back all the money they paid for youtube.

Back to Youtube, I can see in the future if too many people opt out, that youtube might make it a requirement to opt in, unless of course they like losing money, maybe they could do a youtube video of them shoveling money onto a fire or even have a counter which shows how much Youtube is costing google per second.
Pah mere boys, I remember when you downloaded files and getting 0.1k downloading a second was considered zippy and you still had to pay for calls and when email meant having a fidonet address (I remember mine was 2:254/233.8085)...

It's not like I'm losing any money, and I doubt I would ever care to make some from clips uploaded onto my channel. I don't see why I must absolutely stress myself to opt out.
