Maybe it was a preview disk. Or maybe it is a dev disk and someone that doesn't know anything about it put it in a retail case afterwards. There's no real way to know until you play it or dump it.

You're absolutely right. Being a Zelda fan, I'd love to think it's some kind of pre-release version, but mustn't get me hopes up too high.
I'd like to have it checked as soon as possible for some closure...

Bad news I'm afraid. The one person I had hoped would be able to provide the means for me to check the disk couldn't help me out unfortunately.
Therefore, I'm extending the plea to anyone living in Germany who may be able to help me out (PM for precise location).
Like I said before, I'd rather take the disk to someone personally, or perhaps invite someone to bring the hardware to me instead of sending it anywhere on its own.

If you can't find anyone local, might I humbly suggest you sent it to Calpis? He's reliable and has more copier/dumping equipment for any kind of eventuality that could arise. If anything hit a snag, he definatly would have the tools and spare hardware to get around it.

That sounds like good advice and I'll certainly bear it in mind. I haven't spoken to Calpis personally, but from the way you describe him, he does indeed sound like a trustworthy person.

If it ABSOLUTELY comes to it I have a working FDS I could sell you (the belt was replaced professionally and I only played with it a handful of times), but that's about all I can offer. Note that I haven't tested it in probably eight years, nor do I have any way to. You should find someone else for sure, but I'm posting this in case you need a last ditch solution.

That's a very kind offer, TheRedEye! I've often thought of picking one up, but the fear of getting one that isn't in tip-top condition and having no idea what to do with it, have always been fears of mine.
I've got one more potential lead to follow up which may allow me to get the disk tested locally, but should that not work out, I'll be in touch!
