Well Japan has big problems as I'm sure you know with Social safety nets for non workers. Osaka lost about 460,000 jobs since Lehman Brothers Holdings collapsed since 2008.

I think they hit their historical high for jobless rates since 1953-54 in 2009, which was actually a year sooner than what was being projected. That number has since gone down a bit but I believe it's actually starting to surge back up again.

I read a number somewhere that 77% of the unemployed people do not receive benefits, which compare with 57% in the US.

Of course none of it compares to places like Subsaharran Africa. A friend of mine who served in the Foreign Legion was stationed over in Djibouti. He once told me that the men of these regions are incredibly lazy. They mainly depend on the women to do most of the work. He said he really only felt bad for the children.

If they would let a foreigner run a decent fucking business in Japan without being crucified, it would be easy to get some office workers there for cheap.

The Japanese are equally crucified. There is no red tape a foreigner has to cut through that a Japanese doesn't. It sucks for everyone.

It's just a shitload of work to get going, and incorporating is actually quite expensive. My company ran me a good 300,000 yen to get off the ground, in cost alone. I believe in the US it costs $50. Once you're done, something like an address change or any other type of change can cost you something along the lines of 50,000 - 100,000 yen. It's the one time I can think of when right-wingers are totally right: regulation totally fucks up the works.

It goes far beyond this thread, but Japan's infrastructure is so expensive it's counterproductive during recession. Moving (house or office) is ridiculous requiring many months in cash up front (some non-refundable). The aforementioned paper work (cost and of course, resources put in). Etc. etc. All of these things promote stagnation.

The upside is , for small to medium sized business owners, there are a lot of write-offs you can enjoy in Japan that you can't in at least America, and I would assume a lot of Europe.
